Freie Universität Berlin

EU-FP7 project “Collaborative European Digital / Archival Infrastructure” (CENDARI)

As part of the European Commission (7th Framework Programme for Research) project “Collaborative European Digital / Archival Research Infrastructure” (CENDARI) the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute (Prof. Dr. Oliver Janz) at the Free University of Berlin will be recruiting two researcher positions. Appointment of candidates to this position is dependent upon final receipt of the funding from the funding agency.
CENDARI is an international collaborative project, funded by the European Commission with €6.5 million. The project involves thirteen partners from eight European countries. The aim of this project is the creation of a virtual research environment by linking existing archives and resources for the selected testbed fields of the medieval and modern history. The team based at the Free University will be responsible for development, networking and description of European archival holdings relevant to the study of the First World War in charge. Special emphasis will be placed on the unexplored, smaller archives across Europe and particularly Eastern and Southeast Europe.

CENDARI offers a challenging environment working in the border area between historical research, archival practice and e-Humanities. As a member of the CENDARI team, you will work in a highly international, interdisciplinary and motivated research environment. As such, your flexibility and personal commitment to the project will be highly valued.
