Welcome to the webpages for the 5th Conference of the International Society for First World War Studies. ‘Other Combatants, Other Fronts: Competing Histories of the First World War’ will take place at The Imperial War Museum, London, 10-12 September 2009.
Our conference will juxtapose the latest research on the historiography of the Western Front from the British, French and German perspectives with less familiar ‘fronts’ – ‘Other Combatants’ and ‘Other Fronts’. In so doing we will expand and enhance our understanding of the truly global nature of this conflict. As with all our conferences, the Society seeks to promote emerging and innovative research on all aspects of the First World War.
